Tara River Canyon, the deepest river canyon in Europe

The canyon of the river Tara is one of the most impressive landscapes of Mother Nature. With its 1,300 meters of depth, it is the deepest river canyon in Europe, the second in the world, the only one that can match the beauty of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River.
Due to the extremely clean water that can be freely drunk, the Tara River is called the "Tear of Europe". It is about 160 km long, has as many as 14 tributaries and an incredible 69 rapids, which makes it ideal for rafting and kayaking. The last 40 km of the canyon form the natural border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. In Šćepan polje, the rivers Tara and Piva merge and thus the river Drina is formed, formerly called Zelenika because of its magical greenish color.
The rafting season starts at the end of April and the beginning of May when the water level is high and the water temperature is very cold. Due to fact it is the period when the snow melts on the high mountains among which the river Tara flows so it is recommended to the most daring adrenaline addicts. But later, at the beginning of summer, families with small children can also come for rafting and enjoy all of its beauties.
If you are a fan of staying in untouched nature, unforgettable adventures, relaxing socializing and having a good time, then Tara river is the right choice and place for rafting with your friends.
