Sand pyramids, a masterpiece of nature

Sand pyramids represent a specific form of relief, beautiful landscape and a natural attraction created by the action of wind, rain, snow and summer heat. The first written traces of the "pyramids" were left by the travel writer and cartographer Dragutin Deroko in the 1930s. Located in the village of Daničići, it just 9 km from Foča, next to the old road to Miljevina and further to Sarajevo.

The pyramids were naturally built of sandy clay from which small amount of material was gradually removed, and the process of shaping the pyramids continues today. Similar forms of relief still exist only in Colorado, Tyrol and at the location of Devil's Town near Kuršumlija, in Republic of Serbia.

Near the pyramids is the Glacier Cave. For all of those who are really interested to explore this also beautiful landscape, it is possible to organize a trip with a prior timely arrangement.
